Ok i ran to get this after installing windows 8. Best Buy still has some in stock as of 10/24, 2 days before D Day.

Once the need becomes obvious after launch, touch devices such as the Logitech T650 touchpad and T620 mouse are going to become rarer than hens teeth. The technology press has done the public a disservice by not highlighting this need pre-launch. To do otherwise is to assure great disappointment.

My recommendation is to make certain that you purchase a touch enabled input device at the same time that you upgrade to Windows 8. However, the touchpad is superb for window navigation, WEB browsing and other functions that do not require click/drag functionality. This clutters the desktop and somewhat negates the benefit of purchasing the touchpad. Consequently, I have kept a standard mouse on my desktop in addition to the touchpad for click/drag operations. Examples include dragging and resizing windows, selecting text and objects for editing and a myriad of other routine tasks. You don't realize how frequently you perform tasks requiring click/drag until you lose it. My only complaint with this touchpad, as with all touchpads, is that the critical function of click-and-drag is essentially absent.

Full Windows 8 functionality is provided. The tap sensitivity is perfect and swipe gesture sensing is fantastic. Sporting a smooth glass surface, there is just enough micro-texture to provide good feedback and "road feel," if you will. The sensing surface on the T650 is divine. I purchased both the T650 and the T620 to compare. Logitech makes the T650 touchpad and the T620 mouse, both with full-surface touch sensing, and a lesser priced and less capable mouse.

That universe is quite small right now, at least in terms of devices with Windows 8 driver support. The other solution is to purchase a touch based multi-tap input device. First, you can buy a touch enabled display system, either a touch screen for the desktop, touch screen equipped laptop or notepad that runs the full Windows 8 OS - not just RS. There are only two ways to address this problem, the first of which is unrealistically expensive compared with the second.

For the vast majority of desktop users that have only a standard mouse, they are in for a rude awakening after they install Windows 8 and find that menu paging, charm selection and other key features are essentially unavailable to them without going through needless screen calisthenics. Windows 8 is a touch and gesture oriented operating system, pure and simple. They use the same Unified Bluetooth receiver. It works well alongside my Bluetooth Logitech diNovo keyboard.

This touchpad holds a charge for roughly a month of high usage, and it charges quickly. I keep one on the desk for my girlfriend, but for me it's not plugged in.

I use the PC regularly for school, and I no longer use a mouse. And yes, I do feel rather silly every time I do it. It only happens once every week or so, when I tap the desk next to the touchpad instead of the pad itself. That's probably a bad habit of mine, coming from a larger graphic tablet, rather than a true negative about the product. The only negative is that the touchpad is occasionally smaller than I expect. If you can give it two to three days to adjust, then you'll probably love it as much as I do. It supports the same features (pinch to zoom, etc.) My girlfriend isn't a fan, but she doesn't spend the same amount of time on the computer that I do.

With the touchpad, using my computer feels as intuitive as scrolling through things on my iPhone or my Android tablet. As a result, I always kept a mouse and switched back and forth depending on whether I was browsing the Web or using Photoshop. For years I used a WACOM Graphire to replace my mouse, but scrolling through websites can be frustrating when you're using a pen.
